SHAD A. PHILLIPS II
WENDELL – Shadrick “Shad” Aston Phillips II, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Pitt family cemetery, 193 Pitt Farm Lane, Macclesfield.

He was a native of Wake County and son to the late Shadrick Aston Phillips & Cleo Tippett Phillips.  He worked as shipping supervisor at Pender Nursery until his retirement earlier this year.  He served as a volunteer fireman with the Wendell Fire Department for over 15 years.  He also coached girls’ softball and Wendell Mighty Mite football for many years.

Surviving: wife, Patricia Hix Phillips; children, Michael Phillips (Leah) of Wendell, Chris Phillips (Danielle) of Louisburg, and Cynthia Phillips Asta (Thomas) of Raleigh; siblings, James Phillips (Brenda) of Ocala, Fla., Ernie Phillips (Deanne) of Clayton, Betty Hill (Buster) of Raleigh, Sheila Jessup of Garner, and Mary Brown of Raleigh; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St., Wendell, and other times at the home.  www.stricklandfuneralhomes.net.
