WILBUR J. PENDLETON

NASHVILLE - Wilbur Joseph Pendleton, 78, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 011 at his home. A service to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home, with Dr. Michael Cloer officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Nashville.

He was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Willie Newman Pendleton and Maebelle Wrenn P. Hardy, and was also the stepson of the late John G. Hardy. He served more than six years in the Army heavy artillery. He  was employed with Burlington Industries and Planters National Bank (23 1/2 years) and served as a Nash County magistrate for more than 22 years, retiring at the age of 71.

Surviving: wife, Mary Helen Nelms Pendleton; daughter, Glenda Pendleton Davis (Paul); daughter, Linda Pendleton Sheets (Wesley); brothers, Louis Pendleton (Peggy), Wayne Hardy (Diane); and three granddaughters.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Englewood Baptist Church or the family at 1658 Red Oak Road, Nashville, NC 27856.
