GEORGE W. EAVES JR.
DURHAM - George W. Eaves Jr., 88, died Sunday morning, Nov. 12, 2006 at his home. A memorial service was conducted Thursday, Nov. 16, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Betty Berghaus officiating. Burial was private at Maplewood Cemetery.

Mr. Eaves was born and raised in Franklin County, the son of the late George W. Eaves Sr. and Carrie Lou Lassiter Eaves. After graduation from Duke, he founded Eaves Insurance Agency, now known as First Insurance Services. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1946, achieving the rank of captain, and fighting in the Battle of the Bulge.

Surviving: his wife, Jean P. Eaves; daughters, Carolyn Davidson of Durham, Jeanmarie Curtis (Barry) of Durham, Miriam Eaves Duffy (Richard) of New York, N.Y.; brother, Jerry L. Eaves of Kingsport, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to: Westminster Presbyterian Church Holderness Fund, 3639 Old Chapel Hill Road, Durham, NC 27707, or to Community Homecare and Hospice, 1426 E. Highway 54, Suite B, Durham, NC 27713.
