CASTALIA-Edith Inez Gupton Griffin, 88, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011 at Louisburg Nursing Center.  Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services is handling arrangements where the family will receive friends Saturday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Red Bud Baptist Church with the Rev. Corey Wilson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Gupton family cemetery in Wood. 

She was a native of Franklin County, the daughter of the late Ben and Pearl Gupton.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Floyd Griffin, and two sons, Tommie and Brent Griffin.  She graduated from Parkview Hospital School of Nursing in Rocky Mount. She was a registered nurse at Parkview Hospital and Franklin Memorial in Louisburg in the 40’s and 50’s. 

Surviving: son, Floyd McDonald “Donnie” Griffin (Nancy) of Wentzville, Mo.; daughter, Edith Rosalyn “Rosie” Vandenberg (Charles) of Castalia; sister, Mary Alice Denton; brother, Bennie Ray Gupton (Mary), all of Wood; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
