DR. CENIETH C. ELMORE
July 4, 1930 – July 9, 2012
FRANKLINTON – Dr. Cenieth Catherine Elmore, 82, of Franklinton, died Monday night.

Cenieth was a daughter of the late Thomas Onestrus and Effie Leigh Morris Elmore. She was preceded in death by her sister, Effie Leigh Elmore. She was a devoted family member and contributed of her talents and gifts to numerous charitable organizations.

She graduated from Franklinton High School and then received her Bachelors Degree in music from U.N.C. Greensboro; she received two Masters Degrees and a PhD from U.N.C. Chapel Hill.

She taught public school music in Louisburg and Fuquay Springs. She retired as a Professor of Music from Campbell University. She was very active in musical affairs at U.N.C. Greensboro and U.N.C. Chapel Hill and Meredith College. She was past president of the Raleigh Piano Teachers Association and served in numerous music organizations. She was a member of Perry’s Chapel Baptist Church where she served as a church pianist and organist for over sixty years.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Perry’s Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the committal service in the church fellowship hall.

Cenieth is survived by her brothers and sister-in-law, Joseph E. “Joe” Elmore of Louisburg; Thomas M. and Ruby E. Elmore of Winston-Salem; cousins, Jimmie W. Sutton and Terri P. Vincent; 4 nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Perry’s Chapel Baptist Church, Elmore Scholarship Fund, 854 Perry’s Chapel Church Rd., Franklinton, NC 27525.
