WAKE FOREST - Violet Burchette Hilliard, 82, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006 at Hillside Nursing Center. Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 26, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service chapel, Knightdale. Burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Fuquay-Varina.

She was born in Wake County to the late Alvis L. Burchette and Mettie Jones Burchette.

Surviving: daughters, Peggy Holland (Freddie) of Raleigh, Emily Dillard (John) of Raleigh; sons, Johnny Hilliard (Judy) of Youngsville, Stanley Hilliard (Kay) of Stem; sister, Jeanette Flynn of Norfolk, Va.; brothers, Zeb Burchette of Torrence, Calif., and Lynton Burchette of Belhaven; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hilliard was preceded in death by her husband, James Garland Hilliard, and a daughter, Rosa Lee Flythe.
