FRED D. WINSTON
FRANKLINTON - Fred Douglas Winston, 70, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007 at New Rock Spring UCC in Creedmoor. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Born in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Remel Pender Gantt and Thomas Perry. He moved to Manhattan, N. Y. with his mother and later returned to Franklinton. He was employed by the Raleigh Sanitation Department for more than 21 years before retiring. His most recent employment was as an attendant at Budget Rental Cars of Morrisville.

Surviving: daughters, Marlena Perry of Manhattan, N. Y., Doreen P. Braithwaite of Franklinton, Winifred Winston of Baltimore, Md., and Sonya Finkley of Raeford; sons, Jonathan D. Winston of the home, Frederick D. Perry of Hillsborough, Donald L. Perry of Raleigh, and Dwayne Cannady of Franklinton; sisters, Mary L. Privette (James) of Franklinton, Carolyn Taylor (Antwan) of Raleigh, Julia Nicholson (James) of Bronx, N.Y., and Glennie Rich of Bronx, N.Y.; brothers, Sanford Perry (Patricia) of Corpus Christi, Texas., and Milton Perry of Raleigh; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
