ELIZABETH S. AYSCUE
FRANKLINTON - Elizabeth Strickland Ayscue, 87, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007 in a Raleigh hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, at Perry’s Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clyde Waiden and the Rev. Dr. Steve Bolton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Ayscue was born in Franklin County, the daughter of Hugh Elmore Strickland and Carrie McGhee Strickland. She worked as a cloth grader for Burlington Industries Wake Finishing Plant and helped run the family farm, as well as being a homemaker. She was a member of Perry’s Chapel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for more than 40 years and served in various capacities of leadership whenever possible.

Surviving: her sons, Hugh (Mary) Ayscue of West Palm Beach, Fla., William “Joe” Ayscue of Albany, N. Y., Gar Bailey (Judy) Ayscue of Franklinton and Edward (Pat) Ayscue of Zebulon; daughters, Carrie (A.C.) Daniels of Castalia, Patricia (Ronnie) Beckham of Louisburg and Charlene (Freddie) Finch of Franklinton; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Roscoe and Willis Strickland, and a sister, Gracie Masquelier.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Franklin Funeral Service and Cremation, 504 E. Mason St., Franklinton, and other times at her residence.
