MARCELA SANTA DE CRUZ
RALEIGH - Marcela Santa de Cruz “Mami,” 68, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007. A farewell Mass Service was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church. A graveside service followed at 2 p.m. in the immaculate mausoleum in Raleigh Memorial Park.

She was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, the second eldest of two brothers and three sisters. Her father, Isabel Santa, preceded her in death, as well as her first husband, Angel Luis Figueroa, and a brother, Eneris Santa.

Surviving: mother, Antonia Aponte de Santa of Bronx, N.Y.; her second husband, Carmelo Cruz Sr. of Kissimmee, Fla.; one brother, George Aponte of Queens, N.Y.; sisters, Norma Santa, Santi Santa and Crusita Santa, all of Bronx, N.Y.; six children, Peter Figueroa (Teresa) of Raleigh, Angel Figueroa of Cape Vincent, N.Y., Carmelo Cruz Jr., Raleigh, Wilson Cruz of Chicago, Ill., Michelle Cruz Santos (Alberto) of Raleigh, Alfonso Cruz (Heather) of Youngsville; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
