EDWARD R. TORETTA
October 22, 1941 – December 24, 2013
LOUISBURG – Edward Robert Toretta, 72, of Louisburg, passed away December 24, 2013 following several years of an extended illness.

Ed was preceded in death by his sons, John William Toretta, and Edward Francis Toretta; mother, Muriel Butterly Toretta.

Ed attended Catholic schools at St. Sylvester’s in Brooklyn, New York, St. Michael’s in Baltimore, and public schools and colleges throughout New York and Virginia.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday January 6, 2014 at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, 3594 Stone Mountain Hwy, Snellville, GA. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Ed is survived by his wife, Barbara B. Toretta of Raleigh; father and stepmother, Frank J. and Frances Toretta; close relatives, William Shaw (Susan), Kevin Shaw his Godchild; Christopher Shaw (Christine) all of New York City; Jennifer Sollecito (Vincent) of Chicago, IL; brother-in-law, Donald Bowden (Claudia) of Rocky Mount; sisters-in-law, Dianne Newkirk of Garner; Sandra Wood (Sherwood) of Louisburg; Lynn Morgan (Stephen) of Knightdale; nephews, Jason Wood (Lauren) of Louisburg; Jared Bowden (Kristi) of Chapel Hill; Justin Bowden (Callie) of Myrtle Beach, SC.

Many thanks “from our family to yours” for all the prayers, phone calls, visits and support from friends far and near for the past two years.
