DAVID “DAVE” VINCENT VAN NEST
FRANKLINTON:  David “Dave” Vincent Van Nest of Franklinton passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 11, 2014. Dave was born in Binghamton, New York to Clarence Eugene Van Nest and Barbara Marean Van Nest. Dave served honorably in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of Sergeant, and was President of Custom Installations and Alarms, Inc. in Franklinton, North Carolina.

In his spare time, Dave was an avid lover of sports, most especially professional baseball; he also enjoyed spending time outdoors, working on his farm, and travelling the world.

Dave was a beloved member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Franklinton. In a testament to his faith, Dave made the decision to donate his organs so that others might live longer and fuller lives. Preceded in death by his parents, and his brother-in-law, David Potter of Copperas Cove, Texas, he is survived by his former wife and dear friend Kathy Martin Van Nest of Youngsville; his brother, Dean Webster Van Nest (and wife Carolyn) of Copperas Cove, TX; and a sister, Denise Van Nest Potter, also of Copperas Cove, TX.

Dave will be missed by his beloved dogs, “Ruby,” “Emmy” and “Charlie Wiggins.” He will be remembered by his friends as a generous and loyal spirit, always willing to offer a hand to anyone in need. His legacy will be the many lives he touched with his kindness and genuine gift of caring for others.

The family will welcome friends on Tuesday evening, January 14th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home, 1117 Broad Street, Durham, North Carolina. A graveside celebration of life will be held at Mount Olivet Baptist Church, 1245 Mount Olivet Church Road in Franklinton, NC on Wednesday, January 15th, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Mount Olivet Baptist Church.

The family is being assisted by Clements Funeral Service, Inc., in Durham, N.C. Online condolences may be made at www.clementsfuneralservice.com.
