FRANKLINTON—Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Crudup Bynum, 77, who died Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, were held Friday, Aug. 29, at Pope’s Chapel United Church of Christ, Franklinton, with the Rev. Leroy Dukes officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

She was born to Edward Winston and Mable Privette Crudup. She attended school at Albion Academy in Franklinton. She was employed with JP Taylor in Henderson and the Toy Factory in Youngsville. She was a member of Pope’s Chapel UCC, where she served in various capacities.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wrenn Bynum; her daughter, Gloria Ann Malone; her son, George Lee Bynum; and three siblings, Cornelius, George and Joseph.

Surviving: children, Winston Lee Bynum, Mary Emma Bynum, Birtha Bynum-Alston (Elliott), Alfreda Bynum, and Roy Lee Bynum; brothers and sisters, Angie Crudup, Lucy Parker (McKinley), Ella Vea Burrell (Albert), Ora Kearney (Robert), Donald Thomas Crudup, William Henry Crudup (Evelyn), all of Franklinton, Rosa M. Green of Huntington-Long Island, N.Y. and Katherine Mizell of Greenlawn, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
