April 14, 1927 - Oct. 18, 2014

LOUISBURG -Sally Woodard Sherrod, 87, of Peach Orchard Rd., died Saturday. Mrs. Sherrod was born in Pamlico County to the late Phillip Woodard and Nannie Belle Brinson Woodard.

Graveside memorial service will be held 3 pm Wednesday at Perry's Chapel Baptist Church, 854 Perry's Chapel Church Road, Franklinton, NC with the Rev. Earl Delaney officiating.

Mrs. Sherrod was a graduate of Watts Nursing School. She worked in Kinston prior to her marriage to Charles A. Sherrod. She continued nursing doing private duty care and caring for many elderly family members during the early years of her marriage. Although she continued to love nursing, she became a wife and mother and partnered with Charles in the operation of the farm for many years.

Mrs. Sherrod was preceded in death by husband, Charles A. Sherrod, and she is survived by her children, Kathy Hight and husband Ray of Henderson and Neal Sherrod and wife Nina of Louisburg; grandsons, Jackson and Marshall Sherrod.

Mrs. Sherrod was my neighbor for many years. She always spoke her mind and that made you appreciate her even more. It was a pleasure to be in her presence. Etta Alston-Burgess
