LLOYD L. NELMS
May 18, 1931 - May 3, 2015

CASTALIA - Lloyd Leamon Nelms, 83, passed away on May 3rd, at Hospice Home in Raleigh. He was born in Franklin County to the late George Allen and Mary Collins Nelms. Lloyd has always called North Carolina home, having lived in Rocky Mount, Carolina Beach, Castalia and Raleigh.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Chas Konopka and Beth and Billy Parker, all of Raleigh; sister, Carlette Adams of Knightdale; brothers T.O. Nelms (Cat) and Delton Nelms (Nancy), all of Castalia; grandchildren, Michael Pearce (Megan), Sarah Pearce, Nick Parker and Hayden Parker; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful father and an amazing "Papa" who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; stepmother, Hettie Davis Nelms; sister, Veryl Wood; and brothers, Melvin, Clemon and Ensley Nelms.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 1:30 - 3 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Cedar Rock First Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cedar Rock First Baptist Church, 4879 NC Hwy. 56 E., Castalia, NC 27816; or to Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
