HILDA E. BEST
February 20, 1937 - August 3, 2015

CASTALIA - Hilda Edwards Best, 78, of Castalia, died Monday morning at her home after many years of declining health.

Hilda was a daughter of the late Alfred and Bertha Mae Collie Edwards. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryant Franklin Best, and brother, Nelson Edwards.

She was an active member of White Level Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess. She retired from the Franklin County Department of Social Services after 38 years of service.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at White Level Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Hilda is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Best and friend, Phillip Murray; Norma Boyd; Jenny and Scott Harrison, all of Castalia; sisters and brother-in-law, Janice Rose; Brenda and Max Aleshire, all of Nashville, Barbara Lee of Rocky Mount; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Christine Edwards; sister-in-law, Carolyn Edwards, all of Nashville; grandchildren, Terisa Wrenn; Katie Boyd and Bryan Boyd; Jacob Harrison and Grace Harrison; many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the White Level Baptist Church, Building Fund, 2400 White Level Road, Louisburg, NC 27549.

The family would like to thank her special caregivers, Bobbie Murphy, Frieda Cash, Sherry Alston, Charmane Alston, Lucy Evans, Kristy Evans and Becky Carden.

The family will receive friends 7 - 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg, www.stricklandfuneralhome.net
