MARY A. MEDLIN POUNDS

FOUR OAKS - Mary Alva Medlin Pounds, 75, died Friday afternoon, Oct. 23, 2015. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. David Sutphin and the Rev. Peggy House officiating. Entombment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Clayton. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening, Oct. 27, at the funeral home.

Born in Granville County, she was a daughter of the late Sterling and Viola Jackson Medlin. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Dr. Lawrence William Pounds; brothers, Wade Medlin, Ralph Medlin, and David Medlin; and sister, Hallie Mae Medlin. She was an associate pastor of Family Worship Church.

Surviving: son, the Rev. Lawrence Ishmael Pounds (Connie) of Clayton; daughters, Sharon Faye Weddle of Smithfield and Deborah Louise Pounds of Coats; brothers, Fleming Medlin and Avery Janus Medlin (Linda); sisters, Faye Wilson and Margie Ree Hudson; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; one special great-granddaughter; and one special niece.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Family Worship Church, 1909 Cole Road, Clayton, NC 27520.
