HELEN D. COLLIE
November 30, 1952 - November 7, 2015

LOUISBURG - Helen Davis Collie, 62, of Louisburg, died Saturday morning.

Helen was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Ruth R. Davis.

She graduated from Watts School of Nursing, where she became an RN. She was always looking to further her education and soon after marrying Tom, she enrolled in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at East Carolina University. She worked at John Umstead Hospital as a family nurse practitioner. During this time she became nationally certified in infection control.

Helen was an active member in the Order of the Eastern Star. Being elected to the Grand Line at the state level, she progressed to the office of Worthy Grand Matron, serving in this position from 1999-2000.

Helen was a lay speaker at Louisburg United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was a long-time active member.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Louisburg United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.

Helen is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Tom Collie; daughters, Suzanne Taylor (Jim) of Charlotte; Teri C. Moore (Junius) of Wilmington; Heather D. Collie (Emily) of Columbia; grandchildren, Emily, Peyton and Matthew Taylor; Jacob Moore; Lilly Collie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Louisburg U.M.C. Choir Fund, P.O. Box 667, Louisburg, NC 27549 or NC Order of the Eastern Star Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 4730, Wilmington, NC 28406.
