DERREE 'DARRELL' MAURICE TANT

Beloved husband and father, Derree "Darrell" Maurice Tant, 63, of Wilson, passed on November 21, 2015. Known for his infectious laugh and sharp wit, Darrell was always there to lend a hand to those in need. An avid outdoorsman, Darrell hunted at the Law Club in Warren County, NC where he was known as Ghost.

Darrell was born in Louisburg and grew up in Franklinton. He was recently retired from NC Department of Public Health where he worked for 20 years as a Warehouse Manager. He served his country in the Army and National Guard since being drafted at the age of 18 until he was honorably discharged after serving for 23 years including deployments in the Vietnam War, Operation Desert Storm/Shield and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, March 5, 2016 at Fairview Cemetery in Franklinton with the Rev. Jackie Lee officiating
Darrell is survived by his wife, Jilian Deborah Tant; his daughters, Christie Tant Carter (Adam) and Lisa Tant Sutton (John); grandchildren Stella Davis, Courtney Counts, Matthew Sutton, and Andrew Sutton; brother Willard (Joy) Tant and Randy Tant. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mary Lou Tant as well as his brother Tracy Tant.
