SANDRA BEST LUMBERT

Sandra Best Lumbert, 75, of Winston-Salem, formerly of Swannanoa, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by her sons on Thursday, May 12, 2016.

She was born October 19, 1940 in Louisburg, NC to Ervin and Ida Lucille Best. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Howard Lumbert. Sandy retired from the Oteen VA Hospital, where she was a truly gifted registered nurse who spent over 50 years in the nursing profession she loved. She was a devoted and loving wife, mom and grandma who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family, friends, and especially her precious grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, Keith Lumbert (Kristin) of Winston-Salem and Kevin Lumbert of Raleigh; two grandchildren Makenzie and Tristan Lumbert; one brother, Tommy Best of Louisburg, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. A memorial service for friends and family will be held at noon Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC. Memorial donations may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation.
