P. G. DENTON, JR.

ZEBULON - P.G. Denton, Jr., 89, of Zebulon, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, August 2, 2016.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pettigrew Alyson and Jane Denton, and his twelve siblings.

Born March 25, 1927, PG was a retired Dental Technician with the NC Department of Corrections, retired farmer and painter. He served in the US Navy during WWII and was a member of the Whitestone Masonic Lodge. He loved his family dearly and was devoted to his church where he served many years. He was a gentle and caring soul who always put others before himself.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Betty Brantley Denton; his children, Van Denton and wife Vicky of Bunn, Kimberly Gay and husband Gary of Zebulon, Scott Denton and wife Regina of Youngsville; his grandchildren, Patrick Denton, Aaron Denton, Jay Denton, Ashley Denton, Meredith Gay, Jordan Denton, Tiffany Coward and Hannah Coward; and his great-grandchildren, Emma Denton, Brooke Denton, Abigail Denton, Savannah Denton, Laine Denton, Noah Denton, Remy Denton and Breck Denton.

Funeral services will be held at Pilot Baptist Church on Thursday, August 4, at 3:00 PM. Visitation will be held at 1:30 - 2:45 PM prior to the service. Burial will be at the family cemetery immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ronnie Denton Memorial Education Fund at Pilot Baptist Church, 8103 NC 39 HWY S, Zebulon, NC 27597 or Transitions Hospice Care of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
