ARTHUR L. BRADLEY

ROCKY MOUNT --Arthur Lawrence Bradley, 76, of Tarboro, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2017 at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carlisle Funeral Home, 701 Hospital Drive, Tarboro, with burial to follow in Pineview Cemetery, Rocky Mount.

He was born on May 27, 1940 in Rocky Mount to the late John Ivey Bradley and Vallie Beatrice Bradley.

Following graduation from West Edgecombe High School, Class of 1958, he received degrees from Louisburg College and graduated in the first Agricultural Institute class at North Carolina State University. Since 1974, he has been a self-employed farmer, growing tobacco, peanuts, cotton, soybeans, corn and managing cattle. He served for 14 years on the Edgecombe County School Board of Education, as chairman for many of those years.

Surviving: his wife, Janet Murphy Bradley; sister, Millie Elizabeth Bradley Killebrew; brother, John Ivey Bradley Jr. (Anne); his children, Arthur Lawrence Bradley Jr. (Kathy), Susan Vallie Bradley, and John Howard Bradley (Diana); and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
