MARY W. HUGHES
September 9, 1933 - March 17, 2017

LOUISBURG - Mary Wheless Hughes, 83, passed away peacefully Friday evening to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mary was born in Franklin County to the late John William and Mariah Harris Wheless. She was a life-long member of Maple Springs Baptist Church and for many years served as a musician, playing the organ and piano. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Ernest Hughes, an infant son, and her brother, John Wheless, Jr.

Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Celeste and Rod Hoffman; son, John Hughes; brother and sister-in-law, James and Senora Wheless, all of Louisburg; special pets, Smokey and Kenny; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday at Maple Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Havens officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private burial will be held in the church cemetery.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Maple Springs Baptist Church, 1938 NC 56 Hwy East, Louisburg, NC 27549 or Louisburg College, 501 North Main Street, Louisburg, NC 27549. The family wishes to thank the staff of Brookdale of Wake Forest for the care given to our mother.
