LILLIE BELLE EDWARDS GRIFFIN
May 26, 1921 - March 26, 2017

Lillie Belle Edwards Griffin, 95, formally of Castalia, NC, died March 26, 2017, at Crystal Bluffs Rehabilitation Health Care Center in Morehead City, NC.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Peachtree Baptist Church, Spring Hope, NC, with Pastor Eugene Whitehouse officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service.

Lillie Belle was born May 26, 1921, in Nash County, the third child of 13 born to Spencer and Helen Edwards. She was a positive, shining light, who leaves behind a legacy of love and joy to her family and to those fortunate enough to have called her a friend. She was blessed to have had remarkable friends and caregivers in her later years and she entertained them all with her life stories, humor, and advice.

She is survived by a son, Robert Griffin and wife, Karen, of Gloucester, VA, and a daughter, Charlotte Griffin Brothers and husband, Lewis, of Morehead City, NC; grandchildren, Erin Brothers Smith (Leland), Andrew Brothers (Taylor), and Kirsten Griffin; great-grandchildren, Luke and Tilton Smith, and Parker and Peyton Brothers; sisters, Minnie Jones and Mildred Williams; brothers, Cecil Edwards, Allen Edwards, Jerry Edwards, Peter Edwards, and Nelson Edwards. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, R.S. Griffin; a granddaughter, Brooke Griffin; sisters, Rachel Hill and Dixie Southerland; brothers, Heywood, Spencer, and Joe Wayne Edwards.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Peachtree Baptist Church, 3523 North NC 581, Spring Hope, NC 27882.
