SHERMAN B. DORSEY

LOUISBURG - Sherman B. Dorsey, 89, died at his home on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020. A Celebration of Resurrection was held Sunday, Jan. 12, at White Level Baptist Church, Louisburg. Burial followed in the Dorsey family cemetery. He was born in Louisburg, the second of eight children of the late Beecher and Emily Honeycutt Dorsey. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the 82nd Airborne division.

He was predeceased by his wife, Lizzie Mae Fuller Dorsey; son, Sterling B. Dorsey; infant daughter, Janelle Rose Dorsey; parents, Beecher and Emily Honeycutt Dorsey; brothers, Lawrence Elwood and Bennett Talmadge Dorsey; sisters, Vera Gray Tharrington, Barbara D. Layton and Brenda D Burnette.

Surviving: his son, Stuart B. Dorsey (Becky Benzie) of Chesapeake, VA; daughter, Amy Darlene Dorsey of Portsmouth, VA; sisters, Linda (Ray) Shearon and Jackie (John) Parrish, all of Louisburg; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
