Hazel G. Williams

FRANKLINTON, NC--Hazel G. Williams, 87, of Franklinton passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022. She was born June 9, 1935, in Franklin County, daughter of the late William and Nellie George. Her loving and dedicated husband, Willie H. Williams, also preceded her in death.

A memorial service to honor Hazel Williams was held Sunday, December 11 at her beloved Franklinton Baptist Church. Family visitation was from 4 - 5 p.m. and the service was from 5 - 6 p.m., with David Averette who presided.

She is survived by her children, Donnie and Kelli Beckham, Hope and Steve Morath, and Gail and Tommy Honeycutt. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Erica and Bill Jackson, Jennifer and Allen Armstrong, Trent and Katie Johnson, Shannon Honeycutt, Laura Honeycutt, Sarah and Luke Allen, D.J. Beckham, eleven great-grandchildren, and her sister, Margie Pierce.

Hazel was quite the Renaissance woman who was a skilled gardener, canner, seamstress (hand making three designer-class wedding gowns for her children), and world-class chef (at least in her family's opinion)! Going out to eat was forever ruined for her children because no restaurant food could compare to her amazing home cooked meals and made-from-scratch biscuits! She was also well known by her church family for her delicious, layered cakes. She didn't wear a cape, but she was a hero to her three children. She managed to juggle being a loving but tough single mom, working a full-time job, and preparing three meals for her children every day. Her life was a testimony of sacrifice for her family, the community, and her church. She made it a priority to donate to The Blessing Box as frequently as she could and was always looking for ways to help others. She was immensely generous to her children and grandchildren and was always supportive of the varying endeavors and career paths that they chose. To say it was a blessing to be her loved one would be an understatement. She lived the American Dream, growing up from extreme poverty to living a financially sound life. She will always be remembered as the exceptional mother, wife, sister, friend, and grandmother that she was. As sad as we are that she is no longer with us, we are beyond joyful that she is in heaven with Jesus and has been reunited with her adoring husband.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made out to Franklinton Baptist Church, 102 W. Mason Street, Franklinton, NC 27525 or on their website at www.franklintonbaptist.org.

"Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her."

- Proverbs 31:28
