Chemis Oscar Stanfield

CREEDMOOR, NC -- Chemis Oscar Stanfield, 91, of Creedmoor passed away Monday, April 1, 2024, at Transitions Life Care in Raleigh.

Born in Rockingham County, NC on August 7, 1932, he was the son of the late Oscar Baynes Stanfield and Margaret Chambers Stanfield.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Sossamon Funeral Home of Creedmoor with Reverend James Shelley officiating. Burial followed at Carolina Memorial Gardens with military honors.

Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Stanfield and Brenda S. Chappell (Joe Watkins); three grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar B. Stanfield and Margaret C. Stanfield; his stepmother, Deloris M. Stanfield; his wife, Polly H. Stanfield; three sisters, Wilba S. McCoy, Earnell S. Aiken and Frances S. Peed and one son-in-law, Gregory L. Chappell.

The family received friends Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 12 until 1 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Creedmoor.

Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to Transitions Lifecare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
