Leroy Morris Sutton
September 19, 1952 - June 12, 2024

LOUISBURG, NC--Leroy Morris Sutton, age 71, died June 12, 2024.

He was born in Greensboro, NC on September 19, 1952, to Albert and Betty Sutton. Roy was a graduate of Grimsley High School and Clemson University. He received his undergraduate and master's in Chemistry and a Doctorate in Entomology. Roy was employed by Burlington Industries, CompuChem Labs and Terminix.

He is survived by his wife, Ivey Cain Sutton of the home; two children, Emily Sutton Taylor (Alex) of Cary, and Samuel Albert Sutton (Alyssa) of Sanford; his beloved grandchildren, Evie Taylor, Olivia Sutton, and Willow Sutton. He is also survived by his brother Roger Sutton (Cilie) of Greensboro; sister-in-law Teresa Pearl (Rick) of Garner; and nieces and nephews that he adored.

Roy enjoyed camping, going to the beach, bad horror movies, westerns, cats, and cooking anything from pigs feet to baklava. His favorite place in the world was the Lowcountry, especially the banks of the Combahee River in Yemassee, SC.

The family would like to thank Rex Cancer Center, Rex Hospital, Transitions Lifecare, and Yolanda Long, his fabulous Hospice nurse who helped Roy and his family during a difficult time.

A memorial service will be held at Louisburg Methodist Church on Saturday, July 20 at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or Wounded Warrior Project woundedwarriorproject.org.
