John Richard Mann "Chalk Boy"

FRANKLINTON, NC -- John Richard Mann "Chalk Boy" (82) of Franklinton, NC was born to the late Richard and Elztia Mann on May 31, 1943, in Franklin County, NC. He quietly entered eternal rest on December 4, 2025, at WakeMed Health and Hospitals in Raleigh, NC.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ann Morgan Mann and one brother, James Mann.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Davis Crudup (George) of Franklinton, NC and Lisa Mitchell of Henderson, NC; six sons, Vernon Hicks (Shelondria) of Florida, Gregory Jeffries of Franklinton, NC, Ray and Ervin Braswell (Doris) both of Louisburg, NC, Gerald Braswell of Arkansas and Efrim Braswell (Tonya) of Youngsville, NC; one sister, Pearl Lynch of Franklinton, NC and one brother, Robert Mann of Oak City, NC; two special friends; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13, at 12:30 p.m. at Cutchins Family Mortuary & Cremations Chapel, 7 West Green Street, Franklinton, NC. Director Joseph B. Cutchins, Jr, CFSP, Officiating, Elder Wayne Bell, Eulogist.
