Louisburg, NC -- Bruce Jackson "B.J." Howard Jr., 88, of Louisburg, passed away Tuesday morning, July 7, 2026 at Duke Raleigh Hospital.
B.J. was born August 1, 1937 in Harnett County and was the son of the late Bruce Jackson Howard and Thelma Sexton Howard.
B.J. is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Carol P. Howard; daughters and sons-in-law, Penny and Mike Oxendine, Tracy and Randy Smith; step-children, Bryan and Sarah Cash; Suzanne Cash-LeDoyen; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held 11 a.m., Friday, July 10 in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory in Louisburg. The family received friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
