MELVIE “GRANNY” COLLINS GRIFFIN
ROCKY MOUNT - Melvie “Granny” Collins Griffin, 91, entered into heaven, Wednesday, August 6, 2008. She was born October 9, 1916 in Franklin County. “ Granny” was the daughter of the late James Early and Martha Rebecca Collins Collins. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all she met. She was preceded in death by twin daughters, Barbara Faye and Karen Kay Griffin; one son, Harold Thomas Griffin; one sister, Lois Collins Aycock.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her faithful loving dog and companion, Abby; her sons, Danny Griffin, Phil Griffin and wife Peggy, of Rocky Mount, Randy Griffin and wife Faye of White Level; her daughters, Joann Tharrington and husband James, Doris Thompson and husband Tommy of White Level, Jean Dickens and husband Charlie of Raleigh, Hope Lewis and husband Randolph of Red Oak, and daughter-in- law Marlene Griffin of White Level; special caregivers Phyllis Kistler, Mary Titus, and Dianne Robertson; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to Dr. John Derbyshire for the many years of excellent care and friendship. To Nash General Hospital ER, CCU, 3rd and 4th floor staff and Dr Nancy Shaw, and Dr Pajeau for excellent care. Visitation was Friday, August 8th, from 7-8:30 pm at Cornerstone Funeral Home. The funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 9th, at 2pm at White Level Holiness Community Church with the Reverend Jimmy Carpenter officiating. Burial to follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Billy Graham Pkwy, Charlotte , NC 28201 or White Level Holiness Community Church, 168 Wood Road, Louisburg, NC 27549.

Arrangements are entrusted to Cornerstone Funeral Home and Cremations, 1052 South First St., Nashville, NC 27856.
