IRENE U. “MA” PERRY
YOUNGSVILLE - Irene Upchurch “Ma” Perry, 94, of Guardian Care Nursing Center, formerly of 8209 Halifax Road, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008 at Wake Med. She was born April 22, 1914 in Franklin County to the late Williford J. Upchurch and Serena Medlin Upchurch.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1543 Bethlehem Church Road, Youngsville, with the Rev. Earl Roach and the Rev. Bill Wallace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery

She was a nursing assistant and worked at Eastern Wake Hospital for 17 years. As long as her health permitted, she was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Franklin County.

Surviving: daughters: Betty P. Turnipseed of Wendell and Janet P. Jackson (Donald) of Zebulon; sons, Danny C. Perry (Joy) of Zebulon and Ronnie V. Perry (Lisa) of Zebulon; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W. Vernon Perry; a sister, Frances Baker; brothers, Nathaniel and Gorman Upchurch.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, and other times at the home of Janet and Donald Jackson, 8621 Fowler Road, Zebulon.

Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church Building Fund, 1543 Bethlehem Church Road, Youngsville, NC 27596.
