JOHN W. GREEN
BEAUFORT - John William Green, 76, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at Carteret General Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 23) at Brooks Funeral Home, Morehead City, with the Rev. Ken Turner officiating. A reception will follow for all friends and family.

He was born in Danbury, Conn., to John W. Green II and Charlotte Anderson Green. He worked at Duke University and the University of North Carolina in different capacities. He played a major role in planning, building and completion of the NC State Veterinary School.

Surviving: his wife, Marlene; children, John W. Green IV of Heber Springs, Ark., Ross S. Green of Spartanburg, S.C., Martin G. Green of Greensboro, Holly G. Rinaldo of Raleigh, Valerie G. Mitchell of Louisburg; sister, Jill Hardy of Durham; stepsons, David, Kenneth, Bobby and Henry; and eight grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.
