BARBARA D. LAYTON
LOUISBURG - Barbara Dorsey Layton, 73, died at home Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010. Funeral services will be today (Wednesday, Jan. 20) at 2 p.m. at Duke Memorial Baptist Church, with the burial to follow in the church cemetery.

She retired from Franklin County Social Services, and was a member of Duke Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and active in numerous church fundraisers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald F. Layton; parents, Beecher and Emily Dorsey; brother, Talmadge Dorsey; and sister,  Vera D. Tharrington.

Surviving, daughters,  Rhonda Layton Mitchell (William) of Louisburg and Tammy Layton of Raleigh; brothers, Elwood Dorsey and Sherman Dorsey, both of Louisburg; sisters, Brenda Burnette and Linda Shearon, both of Louisburg, and Jackie Parrish of Raleigh; and three grandchildren.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Duke Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 3976 NC Hwy. 581, Spring Hope, NC 27882.

Arrangements are by Strickland Funeral Home, Louisburg.
