LUCY L. BROWNING
ROCKY  MOUNT— Lucy Elizabeth Lumpkin Browning, 88, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Somerset Court in Rocky Mount. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Saturday, March 6) at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home chapel, Rocky Mount, with a private burial in Louisburg.

She was born in Youngsville, the daughter of the late Lena Belle Parker and James Solomon Lumpkin. She and her husband retired as missionaries in 1981 and relocated to Rocky Mount.

She was predeceased by her husband, the Rev. David F. Browning.

Surviving: daughters, Molly B. Pitt (Theo) of Rocky Mount, Nancy B. Campanelli of Rocky Mount, Elizabeth B. Gushlaw of Kankakee, Ill., Sally B. Colling (Richard) of Bourbonais, Ill; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family received friends Friday, March 5, at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Molly and Theo Pitt, 116 Candlewood Road, Rocky Mount. The family will receive out-of-town friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Browning Family Foundation, P. O. Box 7603, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
