OTHO C. “BILL” ABBOTT
LOUISBURG - Otho Cleveland “Bill” Abbott, 83, died Monday, April 26, 2010 at Wake Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 28) at Corinth Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Warren Dale Cemetery in Norlina. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday prior to the funeral service at the church.

He was a Warren County native, born to the late William Henry Abbott Sr. and Norvie Short Abbott,  and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church where he was a former deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir member. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a gunner in the Armed Guard. He retired from Seaboard Coast Line and CSX Railroad.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Surviving: wife, Mary Ella Watson Abbott of the home; daughters, Vickie Abbott Proper and Kimberly Abbott Creech, both of Columbia, S.C.; son, Robert C. Abbott of Charleston, S.C.; sisters, Gertie Deland and Carolyn “Butch” Pitzing, both of Elberon; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
