JEURLENE B. PRECHTEL
HENDERSON - Jeurlene Bartholomew Prechtel, 79, a resident of Henderson and Cape Carteret, died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Franklin Regional Medical Center in Louisburg. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, May 15, in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Tammy Ayscue. On Monday, May 16, graveside services were conducted by the Rev. Dr. Robert Oltman at Gethsemane Memorial Park in Morehead City.

She was born in Vance County, the daughter of the late Rufus A. Bartholomew Sr. and Pauline Hayes Bartholomew of Franklin County. She was the widow of Henry R. Prechtel of Cape Carteret.

A life-long teacher, she received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Atlantic Christian (Barton) College. Until her retirement, she taught kindergarten and first grade in Onslow and Carteret counties.

Surviving: brother, R. A. Bartholomew Jr. (Ann) of Henderson; stepdaughter, Gail P. Jones of Baltimore; two nephews; one great-niece; and three step-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Bethel Baptist Church, c/o Deborah Woodlief, 1149 Massenburg Road, Henderson, NC 27537 or to the Cape Carteret Presbyterian Church, 100 Yaupon Dr., Cape Carteret, NC 28584.
