W. CLAVIS WHITLEY
ZEBULON - W. Clavis Whitley, 75, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 at WakeMed. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, June 15) in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home, with the Rev. Earl Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

He was born in Franklin County, the son of the late James Ruffin Whitley and Mozelle Ferguson Whitley. He attended Hopkins Chapel Baptist Church and was retired from the N. C. Department of Corrrection as a correctional officer with more than 38 years of service.

Surviving: wife, Judy Perry Whitley; daughters, Brenda Hales (Jeff) of Zebulon, Jessica Tressinear (Keith) of Wendell and Janice Whitley (David) of Raleigh; brothers, Curtis Whitley (Carolyn), Randolph “Tootsie” Whitley, Archie Whitley (Judie), Ben Whitley (Peggy); sisters, Frances Strickland (W. F. “Bucky”), Doris Taylor (Earl) and Alice Taylor (Dan); and six grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hopkins Chapel Baptist Church, 4525 Hopkins Chapel Road, Zebulon, NC 27597.

Friends may visit with the family from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 15,  at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Wake Forest.
