JAMES “JIM” FRANKLIN CHASTAIN, SR
June 16, 1942 - June 26, 2012
LOUISBURG - James Franklin Chastain Sr., age 70, of Louisburg, NC passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill.

Funeral service was held at Sandy Creek Baptist Church, Louisburg at 6:30 pm on Friday, June 29. The family received friends immediately following the service. Burial was private in the Chastain Family Cemetery.

 A native of Salem, Indiana, Jim was one of eleven children of the late Harold Earl and Mary Elizabeth Brown Chastain. He was a successful textile manufacturer who came to Henderson, NC with Textron/Randall Company in 1978 and later owned and operated Burkart Carolina until his retirement in 2007.

 Jim was a faithful Christian and active member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church of Louisburg.  He was an avid golfer who enjoyed boating, fishing and traveling with family and friends.

 A caring friend and devoted husband and father, his kindness and gentle heart will be forever missed.

 Jim is survived by his wife of 22 years, Patricia Burnette Chastain; daughter, Madeline Foster Chastain of the home; mother in-law, Barbara Foster Burnette of Louisburg.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sandy Creek Baptist Church, 4160 NC 561 Hwy., Louisburg, NC 27549 or The Medical Foundation of NC on behalf of Lineberger Cancer Center, 880 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Chapel Hill, NC 27514.
