DR. WILLIAM ROBERT OWENS, SR.
FAYETTEVILLE - Dr. William R. Owens, age 80, of Fayetteville, went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on November 27, 2010, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Dr. Bob was born May 5, 1932 in Charlotte, NC to the late Vennie Edgar Owens and Leila Hart Owens.

He grew up in Louisburg, NC and graduated from Louisburg High School, Davidson College and the University of Maryland Dental School.

He practiced general dentistry in Fayetteville, NC for 25 years.  In 1984, following surgery, he moved to Oak Island and lived there until returning to Fayetteville in 2005.  He lived to do the will of his Lord Jesus Christ and complete the work the Lord had given him.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Kathryn Geisler Owens of the home; sons, William Robert Owens, Jr. and wife Marion of Cary, NC, David Van Owens and wife Margaret of Fayetteville, Stephen Todd Owens and wife Debra of Fountain Inn, SC; former daughter-in-law, Amy Beene of Fayetteville; three granddaughters, Kathryn Hyatt Owens, Martha Eastman Owens, Maria Dawn Owens; and grandson Brandon Haire.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Edgar Hart Owens.

Funeral services will be conducted by Ron Locklear at the Columbarium at St. Patrick Church, Village Drive today (Saturday, December 1st) at 2:00 pm.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in The Family Life Center at St. Patrick’s.

The family wishes to convey their sincere heartfelt appreciation for all the acts of kindness, offers of assistance and words of comfort that have been shared with them at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Pembroke Family Fellowship, 449 Pine Lake Road, Pembroke, NC or charity of choice.
