JEAN D. SAWYER
December 17, 1929 – January 24, 2013
LOUISBURG – Jean Dickerson Sawyer, 83, of Louisburg, died Thursday evening.

Jean was a daughter of the late Clarence and Veaver Dickerson. She was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Dickerson. Jean was a member of New Hope Christian Church and was a long time teacher at Louisburg Elementary School until her retirement.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at New Hope Christian Church with the Rev. Steve Barham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Jean is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Vernon L. Sawyer; daughter, Rebekah Sawyer Janes; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Bonnie Sawyer, all of Louisburg; grandchildren, Caroline, Allen and Jacob Sawyer, Joe Liller and Brandi Privette; 2 great-grandchildren.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to New Hope Christian Church, 2793 NC 98 Hwy. W., Louisburg, NC 27549.
