EMMETT MILTON CHESSON JR.
RICHMOND, VA - Emmett Milton Chesson, Jr. passed away Thursday, May 4, 2006 in Henrico Doctor’s Hospital in Richmond, VA. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Chesson was born in Wenona, NC on September 22, 1918. He attended school in Roper, NC until 1936 and graduated from Shuford’s Beauty School in 1938. On December 10, 1942, he enlisted in the United States Army and served with the 102nd Division.

He married Eugenia G. Chowning on December 20, 1943. Upon completion of his tour with the Armed Services, Mr. Chesson went to work at Thalhimer’s Salon in Richmond, VA, and later opened his own salon at 314 East Grace Street. Eight years later, he opened a second salon and gift shop in the Beverly Hills Shopping Center located in the West End of Richmond, from which he retired in the early 80’s. Mr. Chesson was a devoted father and grandfather, and an active member of his community. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Mr. Chesson was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eugenia.

He is survived by his children: Martha Chilton Crane of Beaverdam, VA, Lawrence Chatwyn Chesson of Urbanna, VA, and Judith Chowning Chesson of Louisburg. He is also survived by his grandsons, Shawn Richardson of Stafford, VA, and Hunter Murphy of Louisburg.
