LOUISE L. PRIDGEN

FRANKLINTON - Louise Layton Pridgen, 95, died Thursday evening, Dec. 6, 2007, at Louisburg Nursing Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, in the chapel of Franklin Funeral Service, Franklinton, with the Rev. Clyde Waiden presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. No public visitation is planned.

A native of Franklin County, she was born to the late John S. and Elizabeth Winston Layton. Mrs. Pridgen was a graduate of Elon College. She worked as a cytopathologist for the state of North Carolina until her retirement in 1977.

Surviving: two sons, Hugh Davis Pridgen Jr. of Lumberton and William E. Pridgen (Betty) of Raleigh; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Davis Pridgen.
