RUBY L. LAYTON
January 30, 1912 – March 2, 2008
LOUISBURG – Ruby L. Layton, 96, of Louisburg, died Sunday morning at Louisburg Nursing Center.

Mrs. Layton was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Layton, and her daughter, Shelby Layton. She was a daughter of the late MaDora Bunn and William Henry Layton. She was a floral designer for many years in Louisburg and a member of Duke Memorial Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Duke Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Edge officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Layton is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Maxine L. and Lee Phillips of Raleigh; grandson, Richard Tharrington and wife Jenifer of Cary; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Caden Tharrington; lots of loving and supporting nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Louisburg Nursing Center for the loving care and comfort they provided for Mrs. Layton.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Duke Memorial Baptist Church, Building Fund, 3676 NC Hwy. 581, Spring Hope, NC 27882 or Oxford Home for Children, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565.

The family will receive friends 7 – 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Strickland Funeral Home, 103 W. Franklin St., Louisburg.
