RALEIGH - George Harold Winters, 85, died Sunday, July 27, 2008 at his home. All services for Mr. Winters will be private.
He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of the late Anthony George Winters and Flora Fauber. He was a self-employed carpenter and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Surviving: his wife, Helen Jacobson Winters; daughters, Catherine W. Smith (Carl) of Louisburg, Lois W. Taylor of Raleigh; sons, George Richard Winters of Youngsville, Larry Stephen Winters (Pam) of Raleigh; brother, Richard Winters of Fresno, Calif., Anna Hutchinson of Trainer, Pa.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Duke Children’s Hospital, 512 South Mangum Street, Suite 400, Durham, NC 27701.
