Bunn’s defense of its Northern Carolina Conference golf championships has been led by a player who wasn’t even on the roster last spring -- ninth-grader William Lewis.
But Lewis is no stranger to the BHS program. A few years ago, Lewis’ older brother, Graham, was the Wildcats’ No. 1 player, and Will would follow Graham around the course during NCC matches.

Get some work in and get two victories closer to the 50 mark.

SALEM, VA. -- The Salem Red Sox once again raced to a big lead, and swept the three game series with the Carolina Mudcats at Lewis Gale Field on Sunday in a Class A Carolina League showdown.
Salem (12-9) won 8-3 in front of 2,106 for their fifth straight.
The Mudcats fell to 10-12 overall.

Triangle Tar Heels set to host events
YOUNGSVILLE -- The Triangle Tar Heels AAU Basketball Program will conduct a pair of events on May 19 at Youngsville Elementary School.
A free-throw shooting tournament will be held from 6-7 p.m. It is open to all ages and genders. Cost is $10 per person.

GREENVILLE -- Jharel Cotton collected his Conference USA-best eighth win behind a career-high 12 strikeout performance and No. 27 East Carolina (28-16-1, 10-7-1 C-USA) avoided a diamond series sweep with a 6-3 victory over Tulane (29-15, 7-8) Sunday afternoon at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium.
Cotton (8-0) allowed just two runs (both earned) on four hits and issued one walk in seven innings.

New doctors office is a plus for town of Youngsville
YOUNGSVILLE — Residents will have a new option for health care in late spring.
A+ Urgent Care and Sports Medicine will be taking over the practice of Dr. Grant Jenkins, moving to a new location a few doors down in the Shops on Main center on Main Street in the heart of town.
A+ will offer orthopedic care, as well as other urgent care needs and treatment for emergencies.

One of the most important things he learned, though, didn’t come in a classroom.
As he stood at a podium before students, family, Louisburg College officials and staff, he looked every bit the professor — giving one more lecture on the importance of giving.
