SUPERB YEAR

LOUISBURG -- Louisburg High School celebrated another strong sports season last week as LHS hosted its annual Athletic Awards Ceremony.
Accomplishments were plentiful in 2021-22 for Louisburg, including a Big East Tournament Championship in volleyball -- along with a deep run in the Class 2-A State Playoffs.

Standouts Saluted

LOUISBURG -- Given their campaign-long dominance, which included Region X regular season and tournament championships, it was no surprise that the Louisburg College Lady Hurricanes swept the league's top honors.
LC, now with a 47-3 overall record and competing at the national tournament this week, boasted the Region X Player of the Year (Bri Tucker) and Pitcher of the Year (Carrigan Ewers).

LOUISBURG - The North Carolina High School Athletic Association 2A Mideast Golf Regional was held recently at The River Golf Club at Lake Royale.
The par-72 layout proved to be a stiff test for teams throughout the region.

Mudcats rally for a home victory

ZEBULON -- Hedbert Perez went 4-for-5 with four runs, three doubles, a three-run home run and four RBI while leading the Carolina Mudcats back from an early deficit to defeat the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 11-8 on Tuesday night at Five County Stadium.
Perez fell one hit shy of matching a career high, while teammate Arbert Cipion set a new career best with five hits while going 5-for-6 for the Mudcats.
