JOYCE W. JOHNSON
RALEIGH - Joyce Wade Johnson, 66, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at the home of her daughter, Kim, in Youngsville. Funeral services will be Sunday, July 12, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service chapel in Knightdale, with the Rev. Jim Carroll, her son-in-law, officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethany Baptist Church cemetery, 3417 Rolesville Road, Wendell.

She was born in Pitt County to the late William Acey Wade and Ruth Summerlin Wade. She was retired from Diebold because of her health. She had previously worked at Pitney Bowes and also St. Mary’s College as administrative assistant to the dean.

Surviving: daughters, Tammi Adams of Raleigh, Vicki Rust of Jacksonville, Kim Carroll (Jim) of Youngsville; sisters, Doris Broughton (Charles) of Louisburg, Edith Fuller (Ronald) of Zebulon; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Edna W. Ellington.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. today (Saturday, July 11) at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, and other times at the home of Kim and Jim Carroll, 110 Beaver Ridge Drive, Youngsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 1300 St. Mary’s Street, Fourth Floor, Raleigh, NC 27605.
