JACK L. BARNES
February 2, 1943 – October 13, 2009
LOUISBURG – Jack Lynn Barnes, 66, originally of Missouri and a resident of Louisburg, died Tuesday evening at Duke Raleigh Hospital.

Jack was a son of the late Tub Barnes and Katie Taylor and was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Jesse Taylor.

Jack served as an Executive Chef across the country, concluding his career in Galveston, Texas, by retiring as Executive Chef of San Luis Resort, Spa and Convention Center, a division of Mitchell Energy.

A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Friday, October16, 2009, at White Level Baptist Church. The family received friends immediately following the service.

Jack is survived by his wife of 24 years, Millie Barnes of Louisburg; sons and daughters-in-law, Mitch and Dana Barnes of Missouri, Michael and Denna Barnes of Florida; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Mary Lewis of Florida, Marshall and Judy Lewis of Louisburg, Mike and Sheila Lewis of Virginia; stepdaughter, Jennie Martinez of Henderson; brothers, Joe Barnes of Missouri and Jerry Barnes of Arizona; stepmother, Cora Barnes of Missouri; granddaughters, Megan Barnes, Melanie Barnes, Sarah Barnes, Sydney Barnes and Savanna Barnes; grandsons, Adrian Martinez, Dustin Barnes, Brandon Lewis, Joshua Lewis, Ronnie Lewis, Brian Lewis, Christopher Peoples and Samuel Barnes; 6 great-grandchildren.

The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312 or White Level Baptist Church, Building Fund, 2400 White Level Rd., Louisburg, NC 27549.

Arrangements are by Strickland Funeral Home, Louisburg.
