MAXINE B. MCLEAN
FUQUAY-VARINA- Maxine Abernathy Basnight McLean, 83, died Monday, March 15, 2010. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 18, at First United Methodist Church in Fuquay-Varina. Graveside services were held Friday, March 19, at  Greenlawn Memorial Park, New Bern.

She was born and raised in Cokesbury. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur Dewar Abernathy and Sallie Mann Abernathy, and by her husband, Miller C. Basnight of New Bern; and her son, Douglas.

Surviving: children, Nancy Jordan (Tim) of Raleigh, Miller (Buck) Basnight (Shelia) of Wimauma, Fla., Donna Evans (Dick) of Marietta, Ga., and Sallie Basnight of Raleigh; siblings, Bobby Abernathy (Bille) of Louisburg, Elizabeth Byrd (Jim) of Durham, Lynda Miller (Bob) of Cokesbury and Horace Abernathy (Jane) of Cokesbury; six grandchildren; and one step-grandson.

Flowers welcome or donations can be made in Maxine’s memory to the Ruth Sheets Adult Daycare Program at Edenton Street Methodist Church in Raleigh or the Alzheimer’s charity of your choice.
