GEORGE M. DUKE

SPRING HOPE – George Madison Duke, 84, of the Justice Community, died Monday night, June 6, 2011. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Duke Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Jack Edge officiating.

He was a son of the late Ollie Daniel and Lizzie Kearney Duke. He was preceded in death by his sister, Magdalene Wester; brothers, Timothy Duke, Bill Duke, Arthur Duke, Horace Duke and Paul Duke. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving: his wife, Dahlia Harrison Duke; daughter Laura (Joe) Daniel of Justice; sons, Mike (Debbie) Duke of Justice, Tony (Rhonda “Cookie”) Duke of Epsom; brother, Ollie Duke Jr. of Louisburg; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 7 – 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, Louisburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Duke Memorial Baptist Church, Building Fund, 3976 NC 581 Hwy.
